In our quest to make things "perfect," we ultimately get derailed
from living our purpose.
Ever notice how a desire to do something really, really, really well often
results in it not really getting done at all? Yep, I am talking about that
vicious cycle of preparation, planning and procrastination. It is a cycle
that is fueled by the rants of our inner critic, and it leads to lots of inner
turmoil and very little movement.
And I firmly believe, especially as heart-centered emerging entrepreneurs,
that it is crucial to not gloss over the impact of living in this cycle. While
there are quite a few things we could explore in this regard, today I want
to highlight the following. When you are stuck in the cycle of perfectionism,
you are indefinitely editing and delaying. As a result, neither you nor the
world receives the benefit of you showing up fully in your life. Your radiant
light is dimmed.
And that is clearly NOT in alignment with living your purpose and
honoring your dreams.
Given the above, my mission is to inspire all of us to relinquish perfectionism,
once and for all. That being said, I also offer that this is a journey where
we have the opportunity to be devoted to making this shift while being extremely
gentle with ourselves during the expansion and transformation. Indeed, it
is a process. And we certainly want to avoid weighing ourselves down
with perfectionistic thinking as we approach letting go of perfectionism!
I find it to be the perfect time to consciously apply my motto, "Progress
not perfection."
In that spirit, I now invite you to take the following points to heart
as I do my best to inspire you to say goodbye to the pitfall of perfectionism.
~ It is essential to not underestimate the value of who you are and
what you have to offer. I am continually fascinated by how most of
us struggle to see ourselves and our innate beauty and brilliance in the same
light that others can see us. Quite the phenomenon! Please understand that
while your saboteurs may have their sophisticated tactics for trying to convince
you of the need for way more perfecting before you could possibly do this
or that, they cannot succeed without your consent. Your saboteurs only have
as much power as you give them. Rest in the truth that you are an extension
of pure Source energy. Know that you are overflowing with goodness and value
and gifts. Be willing to trust in your divine nature.
~ Imagine the advice and support you would offer to a loved one.
I am going to take the bold step of making an assumption here. I assume that
if a loved one came to you feeling discouraged and defeated because of the
perfectionistic standards they were trying to live up to, you could easily
hold the highest vision possible for them. You would be firmly rooted in the
perspective that they are more than enough just as they are. With love and
compassion, you would honor the fear and doubt that was present....AND you
would powerfully remind them of the truth. Eventually, your confidence and
belief in them would lead to a release of the paralyzing perfectionism and
a deeper embrace of trust. So, of course, this has me wondering. Where are
you with giving yourself that same level of understanding and splendid support?
~ Releasing perfectionism paves the way for unparalleled growth and
transformation. When you decide that you will no longer be held back
by the outrageous lies of your inner critic and you choose to claim in the
deepest part of your being that ALL IS WELL, there is no limit to the freedom
you will feel and the courageous action you will take from a place of ease
and flow. You will BECOME who you are divinely designed to be.
~ Be clear about the price of perfectionism. Regardless of
the specific words that your inner critic may use, the message you receive
when you are feeling plagued by perfectionism is "I am not enough."
You are giving your attention to a disempowering and false story that feels
awful. Essentially, this means dwelling in the energy of unworthiness, lack
and scarcity. While it goes without saying that this does not serve you, I
want to be sure to emphasize the ripple effect of swimming around in this
sea. It is imperative to acknowledge that holding yourself in this way leads
to feeling disconnected from who you really are. In this space, you are not
aligned with Source energy. You are in a state of resistance. And when it
comes to manifesting our dreams and desires, it is all about allowing. So
I urge you to remember that in letting go of perfectionism, you are not just
releasing an old habit. You are powerfully reclaiming your natural state of
Well-Being and opening yourself up to the Stream of abundance and possibilities
that continually flows.
In closing, I have a declaration that I hope will reach every single cell
of your beautiful being. And I hope that you will allow this truth to take
root in the center of your heart. So here it is.
It is all ALREADY perfect.
I invite you to trust that everything is always unfolding perfectly
for your deepest learning and growth. And yes, I mean at all times.
As Abraham (of the Abraham-Hicks teachings) so lovingly reminds us, you can't
get it wrong and you never get it done
.
All I can say to that is what a relief! Oh, and how exhilarating too!
