The phenomenal power of our perspective never ceases to amaze me. With a simple
shift in our viewpoint, we can radically change our experience.
Do you know what I mean? Are you regularly treating yourself to this transformation
tool? Do you see that depending upon the lens we choose to look through, we
may be turning in the direction of ease and flow, or not?
Indeed, the lens we choose has so much to do with whether or not we
enjoy deeper alignment with our desires and dreams or if we struggle with
resistance.
So I am especially curious if you are allowing this tool to generously support
you with the unfolding of your entrepreneurial dream. I want to invite you
to thoughtfully consider how mindful you are being when it comes to choosing
an empowering lens, or perspective.
I must say that it is quite fascinating how we can frequently overlook this
simple, yet profound, internal resource. Therefore, it is my hope that this
article will serve as a memorable refresher course. Let us not forget that
the lens we choose can make all the difference in the world!
Now, in service of getting you started with your juicy reflection,
I want to shine the light on a few choices that I see as particularly noteworthy
for our entrepreneurial adventures. Take a peek below and see what you discover
about which lens you tend to choose.
~ The Lens of Past or Potential As you focus on stretching
into your entrepreneurial dream, how do you see and hold yourself? Do you
feel firmly grounded in the awareness that you are a Spiritual Being having
a human experience? Are you fully owning that as a physical extension of Source
energy, you have unlimited potential? Do you see that you are constantly evolving
and are divinely supported at all times? Or is your tendency to be more focused
on who you HAVE been in the past, constantly telling your old stories and
ultimately reinforcing a limited self-image? Never underestimate the impact
of your choice. As Abraham says, "Each and every component that makes
up your life experience is drawn to you by the powerful Law of Attraction's
response to the thoughts you think and the story you tell about your life."
And while it can certainly be tempting to tell and retell our old stories,
I find that we are often simply caught up in an unconscious habit. So I invite
you to get curious about whether or not this might be happening for you. Most
importantly, I encourage you to be devoted to only telling the stories that
reflect the TRUTH of who you are, the stories that lovingly call you forth
into more and more of your divine magnificence
.
~ The Lens of "Through" Me or "To" Me
This is about fully acknowledging and honoring the splendid process of co-creation
that we are continually engaged in with the Universe, deliberately or not.
So where exactly are you with owning that life is happening through you, not
to you? I am talking about wholeheartedly claiming your creative power as
the designer of your life, as opposed to buying into the illusion that we
are a victim to circumstances and at the mercy of things outside of us. Do
you FEEL the immeasurable difference between these two lenses? And can you
see how your choice dramatically affects the degree of trust, confidence and
empowerment you feel in moving forward with your entrepreneurial dream? Undoubtedly,
being passionately committed to deliberate co-creation is a total life-changer!
~ The Lens of Possibilities or Pessimism When contemplating
decisions or opportunities associated with your dream, what do you notice
about your default position? Are you quick to point out why something CAN'T
work, easily reciting a well-rehearsed list of reasons and concerns? Do you
have difficulty seeing beyond what you believe are the barriers? Or is your
default perspective one of possibilities? Are you more likely to expect and
envision success, showing up wide open to the idea that resources and support
are readily available to you? In my own entrepreneurial journey, I have definitely
come to a deep appreciation for how important it is for us to let go of any
conditioning that contributes to dwelling in doubt and scarcity thinking.
We want to give ourselves full permission to think big, to always believe
in possibilities, to be "dreamers" no matter what other people think
or say. And we want to remember the following words from Brian Tracy. "Whatever
we expect with confidence becomes our own self-fulfilling prophecy."
~ The Lens of Opportunities or Obstacles As you travel through
your entrepreneurial journey, what is your typical response when you hit a
bump in the road? When you come face to face with what feels like a huge challenge
or setback, which lens do you choose? Do you get stuck in seeing it only as
an obstacle and eventually spiral into discouragement and despair? Or are
you continually strengthening your capacity to hold any struggle as an opportunity
for expansion and transformation? Are you willing to practice unwavering trust
that everything is always unfolding perfectly for our deepest learning and
growth? If we can genuinely embrace this belief, we open ourselves up to being
absolutely astonished at the depth and beauty of our divine unfolding. Growing
our own heart-centered business can be the best personal growth course available
on the planet, if we allow it to be.
~ The Lens of "Why" or "How" When it
comes to the day-to-day engagement with your big vision, are you giving your
attention to your "Why" or the "How?" Let's take a closer
look. If you are tapping into your "Why," you are crystal clear
as to what your dream is REALLY about and you are fueled by your inner fire.
You are enjoying the exhilaration and intense aliveness that comes with expressing
your values in such a meaningful way. This is the place where passion, purpose
and flow carry you forward. As for looking through the lens of "How,"
this is where you are consumed with trying to figure out ALL the details of
your dream. Not surprisingly, this often feels overwhelming, scary and frustrating.
I cannot emphasize enough the difference it makes when we choose the lens
of "Why" vs. "How." The former tends to create magical
momentum while the latter tends to shut us down. Bottom line, if we can really
trust that it is NOT our job to micro-manage the details, we are then able
to savor the delightful dance of co-creation with the infinitely abundant
and generous Universe. And we are guaranteed to have much more fun along the
way!
